Welcome to Week #42 of this Wednesday Link Party
Note: Each week I try to feature at least three posts that were linked up during the previous session. It isn’t possible for me to read every post and so for now I plan to choose a single-digit number and read all the entries (they are numbered) which contain that number. From last week’s entries I’ve been reading the ones with a 4. If you are featured I will now be sharing your post on Facebook during the week.
Features from last week–>>
A Heart for the Home caught my eye with this terrific post entitled Are you Spiritually Getting Dressed? The secret is found in Colossians 3:12-15 and Jennifer does amazing job of bringing those inspired words from Paul to life.
“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”
This post, Undesired Sacrifices, by Being Confident of This touched a chord within me.
“Okay, Lord, I’ve accomplished all of those things on the list. Here ya go. Are we good now? I can go about the rest of my day as I please, right? You’re pleased with me, right? I pile the sacrifices of good behavior up in a nice neat pile on my altar, thinking I’m all good to go.” Except I’m not. Because while I was busy trying to check those things off of my good-Christian-girl list, I was withholding my very self, and I didn’t even realize it. — Being Confident of This
I could have written this post entitled, In the Wilderness: Following God when it’s Hard, at many different points in my life….instead I found it at the lovely blog Gospel Homemaking.
The wilderness where God led the Israelites when He rescued them from slavery in Egypt was a barren land. Food was scarce, and water was hard to find. It was dry, and empty, and wearisome. Sometimes, that’s the exact place I seem to be. Spiritually, that is. — Gospel Homemaking
